This fascinating example of automotive history will be offered for sale at the Gooding & Company auction, in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 21 and 22, 2011. While it needs a restoration, Tuckers are important enough to automotive history, that it's likely to be bought by an automotive museum; and fully restored to become the centerpiece of a display on Preston Tucker and his dream.
Many books have been written about Preston Tucker. Jeff Bridges portrayed Preston Tucker in the Francis Ford Coppola movie "Tucker," made in 1988. Mr. Coppola has two Tuckers. He became fascinated with the story, because his father had ordered a Tucker automobile; but ended up only receiving a Tucker radio, after posting a deposit. The elder Coppola never received a car, since the company went bankrupt, before delivering one. - Terry Parkhurst
